How to create a shop


  1. Review our User Terms of Service, Seller Policies & Seller Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy (Please scroll to the bottom of the page for a full list of our Privacy Policies per Region).
  2. Create a Star Trading Post Account if you don’t already have one.
  3. Visit Vendor Registration and fill out all the required information.
  4. After filling out the registration form, a Set-up Wizard will walk you through the Store Set-up. If you do not wish to use the Wizard, or you want to change a setting, you can adjust all settings on your Vendor Dashboard.
  5. Make sure that your Store Policies, Refund/Returns Policies, Shipping Policies, Customer Service Instrauctions and Payment Settings have all been completed, otherwise you will inherent and be bound to STP general shop policies.
  6. Add a Store Banner picture and a Store Logo picture.
  7. Create a Business PayPal Account if you do not already have one.

Getting Paid


The STP Transaction fees referenced above are automatically subtracted from your listing upon receipt of payment. The funds are then available to your account upon transaction completion. Funds are deposited into the specified account of your choice on a biweekly bases to ensure all transactions have cleared.

Star Trading Post Fees


Star Trading Post has 3 different membership tiers of payments.

1. Shining Star
A plan with no monthly fee. There is a, allowed limit of 10 products as active listings, with some extra features. There is a Fee per Listing of .99 cents per item. There is a Fee per Sale of 9% of the completed sale price. We do not take any percentage of your sales tax or your shipping charges, with the condition that the shipping charges are reasonable and not inflated. If your item is on sale, we only tax the amount that the item sold for, including the discount or coupon.
There is a 7.65% CO, Denver County Sales tax that is applied to all payments made to STP.
    Example:
  • If you List an item for $110 and gave the customer $10 discount, charge the customer $10.00 Shipping and collect a 6% sales tax, the total transaction is $116.00.
    The STP charges would be as follows:
    • Fee per Listing - $0.99
    • Fee Per Sale - $9.00
    • CO Sales Tax - $0.77
    • Total Collected from STP:$10.76
2. Shooting Star
A plan with a $19.99 monthly fee. There is an allowed limit of 30 products as active listings, with a greater number of extra features. There is no Fee per Listing. There is a Fee per Sale of 5% of the completed sale price. We do not take any percentage of your sales tax or your shipping charges, with the condition that the shipping charges are reasonable and not inflated. If your item is on sale, we only tax the amount that the item sold for, including the discount or coupon.
There is a 7.65% CO, Denver County Sales tax that is applied to all payments made to STP. There is a monthly sales tax for $1.53 for this plan.
    Example:
  • If you List an item for $110 and gave the customer $10 discount, charge the customer $10.00 Shipping and collect a 6% sales tax, the total transaction is $116.00.
    The STP charges would be as follows:
    • Fee per Listing - $0.00
    • Fee Per Sale - $5.00
    • CO Sales Tax - $0.38
    • Total Collected from STP: $5.38
3. Supernova
A plan with a $39.99 monthly fee. There is an unlimited allowance of active listings, with an even greater number of extra features. There is no Fee per Listing. There is a Fee per Sale of 3.5% of the completed sale price. We do not take any percentage of your sales tax or your shipping charges, with the condition that the shipping charges are reasonable and not inflated. If your item is on sale, we only tax the amount that the item sold for, including the discount or coupon.
There is a 7.65% CO, Denver County Sales tax that is applied to all payments made to STP. There is a monthly sales tax for $3.06 for this plan.
    Example:
  • If you List an item for $110 and gave the customer $10 discount, charge the customer $10.00 Shipping and collect a 6% sales tax, the total transaction is $116.00.
    The STP charges would be as follows:
    • Fee per Listing - $0.00
    • Fee Per Sale - $3.50
    • CO Sales Tax - $0.27
    • Total Collected from STP: $3.77

Seller Protection

Seller Protection is a program that offers you peace of mind in the event of a transaction dispute. If you are unable to resolve a disagreement with a buyer and the transaction meets eligibility requirements, Star Trading Post will help you resolve the issue through our dispute resolution system. Sellers are required to use tracking numbers to be covered under Seller Protection.

What is allowed for sale on STP

Star Trading Post provides a science fiction marketplace for crafters, artists, designers and collectors to sell their handmade creations and vintage goods that have science fiction relevance and support the theme of the Star Trading Post.

This can be presented simply "as is" or be presented with an STP approved fictional story line that does not promote violence, discrimination or hate of any kind. While creativity is encouraged in presentation, there must be an accurate representation of the materials used. All products must be vegan. Star Trading Post is a leader in futuristic fashion, art, and culture. STP is honored to be partners with individuals and businesses that choose to assist in creating world.

Prohibited Items Policy

Star Trading Post prohibits certain types of items from Star Trading Post. Some items present legal risks to our community; others are inconsistent with our values, are harmful to our members, or simply are not in the spirit of Star Trading Post. This policy explains what is prohibited or restricted on Star Trading Post.

This policy is a part of our Terms of Service. By opening a Star Trading Post shop, you’re agreeing to this policy and our Terms of Use.

The following types of items are prohibited or restricted on Star Trading Post:

  1. Food or Drink.
  2. Alcohol, Tobacco, Drugs, Drug Paraphernalia, Herbs for the purpose of consumption, and Medical Drugs
  3. Animal Products
  4. Dangerous Items: Hazardous Materials, Recalled Items, and Weapons
  5. Hate Items: Items that Promote, Support, or Glorify Hatred
  6. Illegal Items, Items Promoting Illegal Activity, and Highly Regulated Items
  7. Internationally Regulated Items
  8. Pornography and Mature Content
  9. Violent Items: Items that Promote, Support, or Glorify Violence

Star Trading Post reserves the right to cancel any listings that violate the above policy. If there is any question about this policy, or if you need any clarification for a listing, please contact Star Trading Post Support.

Customer Service Expectations for Star Trading Post Shops

In order to sell on Star Trading Post, sellers agree to provide a great customer experience, every time a buyer engages with their shop. When buyers make a purchase, they trust that they will receive their order in a timely manner, and that their item or items will be as they were described on the Star Trading Post listing.

Shops are expected to:

  • Prepare and ship orders within the stated processing times and “ship by” dates
  • Accurately depict their items on Star Trading Post through listing descriptions and images
  • Respond to shoppers’ Messages and answer any questions promptly
  • Treat shoppers and fellow sellers with respect and courtesy

If a Shop has valid complaints, valid disputes, or repeated issues Star Trading Post reserves the right to investigate and take action, including permanent revocation of buying and/or selling privileges in any account they may hold. Shops that have never provided strong customer service are eligible for permanent suspension at any time.
